Underhood, the goal was clearly to create a super-sanitary engine bay that features the 260 cubic inch V8 like artwork. Satin black inner fenders and firewall are the perfect backdrop for what we believe is the original engine. It is further augmented with bright chrome valve covers and a matching open-element air cleaner with correct reproduction decals on top. Wiring and plumbing are neatly done in the factory style, and you’ll note that as a ’64, this car still runs a generator (alternators would arrive in late ’64). The engine runs superbly, quick to start and idling with a wonderful V8 burble from the recent dual exhaust system. Underneath, it’s quite solid with no signs of major deterioration in any of the critical unit-body support structures and the factory braces are still in place. A C4 3-speed automatic transmission feeds an 8-inch rear end with 3.25 gears inside and those 205/70/14 BFG radials on Magnum 500 wheels complete the look.
