Impeccable 1971 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible

Lovingly owned since 1994. Selling to make room in the garage. This car holds a special place in my heart, having driven it all the way to Maryland upon retiring from the Air Force. Recently upgraded with new dual exhaust featuring Pypes headers, it boasts a powerful and distinctive sound. Originally purchased in California, this beauty is free from any rust. Stand out with the tilt steering wheel, a unique feature. Headers increased the horsepower, but I have not rated it. The car comes with a specially designed digital AM/FM radio for Buick capable of playing music from an iphone, and the original AM/FM radio is included in the box. The convertible top and glass rear window are in excellent condition. It has a rare passenger side view mirror. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that everything works flawlessly, including the clock! The factory cold AC has been converted to meet new standards. While it’s not a show car, this unrestored original is capable of daily driving.

Buick’s 350ci engine was quite different from Chevrolet’s, and was known to be more durable. Unlike Chevy’s, the Buick 350 block had higher nickel content and a deep skirt construction. The Buick also used an external oil pump, front mounted distributor, different sized crank journals, and a longer stroke.

In fact, Buick’s 350 had the longest piston stroke of all the GM 350ci engines, making it physically wider and bigger than all of them as well

The Buick 350 also uses an aluminum timing cover that incorporates the oil pump mechanisms, which exposed the oil filter to oncoming air for a cooling effect.

This engine is the same 350ci found in the Jeep Gladiator and Wagoneer (’68-’71), where it was known as the “Dauntless” V8.
