1968 Plymouth GTX convertible, 440 Super Commando (numbers-matching), 727 automatic, 3.23 rear with PS, PB, factory tach, buckets, console, AM radio, original wheel covers and power top. Refinished in the original JJ1 Ember Gold; Legendary interior, top and stripe are black. This is largely an original car with a second repaint, well maintained and rebuilt through the years. Judging by the dealer decal on the rear panel, this GTX was sold new at Imperial Chrysler Plymouth on Lawrence in Chicago. From there it apparently made its way to Yuma, Arizona, probably immediately but at least by the early ‘70s (AZ plates from 1973). Perhaps a military man bought this one off the lot and headed west in ’68. Spent most of its life in Arizona and Nevada and is super clean; floors and quarters are original and unpatched….no rust ever. The four tabs are there on the quarters.
One of 506 produced – 440, auto, convertible ’68 GTX.
Original motor was rebuilt with Wiseco pistons and harden valve seats. Rides on Michelin radials and is a great top-down Mopar musclecar
